Alongside the Randomised Controlled Trial we are undertaking both a Health Economics analysis and Generalisability study. The Generalisability Study aims to understand how the rate of infection has changed over time in neonatal units across England and Wales, and to estimate what the effect on that rate would be if all babies that needed a peripherally inserted central catheter (PICC) received an antimicrobial PICC. To help us understand the results from the Generalisability Study, we sent a questionnaire to doctors and nurses at neonatal units to find out what they do to prevent infections when inserting and maintaining PICCs.

If you are interested in this side of our work a copy of the survey used can be found here.
